Marlys was born on December 17, 1926 in Hillsboro, Kansas to Bernard and Anna Toews. In the spring of 1941 along with her mother and sisters she heard the Gospel message and responded heartily to that message. She was a Minister of Jesus Christ for twenty five years in Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, and Wyoming. She also served as a cook in a nursing home for eight years, did alterations and foot reflexology in the Kearney, Nebraska area.
In 2004 Marlys moved to Olathe to live with her sister Claris Blubaugh. Both sisters retired to Foxwood Springs in Raymore, Missouri in September of 2015.
Marlys is preceded in death by her parents Bernard and Anna Toews, brother Winston Toews, sister Ethleen Coolahan and two brother-in-laws Robert Blubaugh and Ed Coolahan. She is survived by several nieces and nephews Rebecca Fleming and her husband Raymond, Charles Blubaugh and his wife Deania, Amy Olson and her husband Steve, Mark Blubaugh and his wife Stacie, Bruce Coolahan and his wife Cynthia, Cedric Coolhan and his wife Jeanne, Tim Coolahan and Randy Toews. Marlys is also survived by her sister Claris Blubaugh. She will be sadly missed.
Marlys will be cremated according to her wishes. A memorial service honoring Marlys Ann Toews will be 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at the McGilleyFrye Funeral Home 105 East Loula Street Olathe, Kansas.
