Martha "Joan" Martin

Martha “Joan” Martin, 87, of Olathe, Kansas passed away surrounded by her loving family on Monday, June 11, 2018. “Joan,” as she was known by her family and friends was born on July 24, 1930 in Leon, Kansas to John W. and Adah L. (Kelly) Vinson. She attended and graduated from Geuda Springs High School. She married the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Martin in Arkansas City, Kansas in 1951. Together they raised their two children Connie and Steven.

Joan is preceded in death by her parents, John and Adah Vinson, and her loving husband of 66 years, Robert “Bob” Martin who passed away on November 8, 2017. Also preceding her in death were her three sisters, Ann Mayer of Arkansas City Kansas, LaWanda Galmeister & Betty Spray of Sun City, Arizona. Joan is survived by her two children: a daughter, Connie Knoeppel and husband Bob of Olathe, Kansas and her son Steven Martin and wife Brenda of Derby, Kansas. Left behind to cherish her memory are her four grandchildren, Holly Everman (Johnny), Chris Knoeppel, Ashley Martin (Burn Cooks) and Matt Martin (Jordan). She will be sadly missed by her two great grandchildren, Londyn and Mila Cooks.

Joan will be cremated according to her wishes. A “Celebration of Life” is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 23rd at First Christian Church-Olathe 200 East Loula Street Olathe, Kansas 66061. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date in Emporia Maplewood Cemetery Emporia, Kansas.
