

Richard Dale Page, 86, of Olathe, KS., passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2012. Dale was born on October 26, 1925, at La Cygne, KS. He moved to Parker, KS., as a young boy with his parents, Eva Lillian Hampton Page & Elwin Richard Page. He attended grade school & graduated from Parker High School in 1943. Dale served on a cargo ship in the Merchant Marines during WWII. He was united in marriage to Billie Jean Mitchell on June 14, 1953, at the Methodist Church in Osawatomie, KS. Their home was made in Olathe, KS., where they raised their three children, Barbara Jean, Alan Richard & Roger William. Dale was employed by General Motors & retired from Delco Battery Plant in 1986. He enjoyed attending the monthly union meetings & the weekly breakfast with his fellow retiree friends. After his retirement, Dale & Jean traveled in their RV & spent the winters in Texas with family & friends. Dale was an avid golfer & fisherman. Memorable stories have been shared by his family about his fishing trips. He was grandpa to Jake Page, Brad Newton, Ryan Newton, Amy Page, Shannon Newton, Darrell Lancaster & Dustin Lancaster. Dale always enjoyed the grandchildren’s school & sporting events. In the summer, Dale planted a garden & would share his tomatoes with family & friends. They were so delicious! Throughout the years, Dale frequented the local casinos, where he thoroughly loved their crab feast dinners. Dale is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Billie Jean; daughter, Barbara Jean; granddaughter, Jennifer Page; brother, Carl Page; & brother-in-law, Larry Mitchell. Survivors include his sons: Alan & Sue Page, and Roger & Melody Page. His brothers & sisters: Helen Merrill, Mel Page, Frank & Gale Page, Doris Marcum, Bill & Jan Page, Joyce Maggard, Shirley & Willie McCracken. Sister-in-laws: Pat & Ed Gaddie, Mary & Ron Schwindt, Anne Mitchell. And 7 grandchildren. Visitation will be at the McGilley-Frye Funeral Home, Olathe, from 6-8 pm on Wednesday, March 7, 2012.Service will begin at 2 pm at the funeral home on Thursday, March 8, 2012, followed by a graveside interment at the Olathe Memorial Cemetery.
