Ruby Ann Bowland

Ruby Ann Bowland, 67, of Olathe, Kansas passed away surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, March 1, 2022. She will forever be remembered as a devoted wife, loving sister, aunt and friend to everyone she knew.

Ruby was born on August 2, 1954 in Paola, Kansas (White House Maternity) to Luther E. and Norma Jean (Patterson) McDill. She attended and graduated from Osawatomie High School. She enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with her friends and family. Ruby met the love of her life Tom Bowland and they were married on September 8, 1990. She enjoyed cooking and her home was always open for visitors to come in and sit down to enjoy. Ruby worked thirteen years in several positions in customer service with Kaiser Permanente Insurance Company.

Ruby is preceded in death by her parents Luther and Norma McDill, sister-in-law, Chris Carver and her niece, Lacey McMullen. She is survived by her loving husband of thirty one years, Thomas (Tom) Bowland of the home, loving aunt Dorothy Van Dyke of Palm Coast, Florida, two brothers, Bob McDill and his wife Jan of Osawatomie, Kansas, Richard McDill stationed in Japan (formerly of Osawatomie, Kansas), sister Jeanie Barnes and her husband Bob of Salina, Kansas, sister in-laws, Cathy Hamilton of Lenexa, Kansas, Lora Blatt (Gary) of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Tina Fowler and her husband Mike of Raymore, Missouri and brother-in-law Lenny Carver. Left behind to cherish her memory are her loving nieces and nephews, Shane McDill (Stacey), Jeff Barnes (Tanya), Christy Zeigler, Joshua McDill, Justin Falls, Nick Misner, Scott Hamilton, Becky Reed, Michelle D’Amico, Amy Archambeau, Brad McCullough, Lisa Purtle, Angie Rider, Heather Johnson, Sara Clause and Joey McMullen (Lacey’s husband). She will be sadly missed by many precious great nieces and nephews.

Ruby will be cremated according to her wishes. A “Celebration of Life” honoring the life of Ruby Ann Bowland will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 11, 2022 at the McGilley & Frye Funeral Home 105 East Loula Street Olathe, Kansas. Visitation from 1:30 p.m.-2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
