Sharman Elizabeth (Drehle) Morris was born in Kansas City, KS on March 2, 1948 to Ina (Breece) and Otis H. Drehle. For the first five years of her life, she resided in Norborne, MO. Her family moved to Olathe in 1953, and she started kindergarten at Central School. Her family then moved to DeSoto for 4 years, returning to Olathe in 1957 where she remained for the rest of her life.
She graduated from Olathe High School in 1966 and married her high school sweetheart, Jim Morris, in 1968. He preceded her in death in 2018. She is survived by two children, Jayme Morris-Hardeman (Brian) of Manhattan, KS and Josh Morris of Estes Park, CO. She had two grandchildren Trenton (Blake) Hardeman of Overland Park, KS and Kaiden Hardeman of Manhattan, KS.
Sharman was a stay-at-home mom for many years, providing her children with a strong start to their education. She then received her paralegal certification and worked in the Johnson County District Attorneys Office for 28 years as a Trial Assistant. After retirement, she enjoyed volunteering at the Center of Grace clothing closet, Mission Southside backpack program, Meals on Wheels, the Olathe Public Library, and was a long-time member of the Olathe Historical Society. She loved being Grammy to Trenton and Kaiden and both described her as fun and interactive.
She loved being outside, reading, playing bridge and many other card and board games, and going on adventures with her best friends Terri and Jody. She treasured her 50+ years of friendship with “The Bridge Group” and their families.
She had many good dogs in her life and loved each one dearly. She asked for memorials to be contributed to Wayside Waifs, 3901 Martha Truman Road, Kansas City, MO 64137 (waysidewaifs.org), or to an animal rescue group of your choice.
An intimate Celebration of Life is being planned for family. Sharman asked that in lieu of a service, all that knew her take time to enjoy the day by sitting on their front porch, taking their dog for a walk, or sitting down with family and friends to play their favorite board or card game.
