Shirley L. Kolling

Shirley Louise Kolling, 76, of Olathe, Kansas passed away at home on Tuesday, November 26, 2013. She will forever be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to everyone she met. Shirley was born on January 14, 1937 in Victor, Kansas to Clifford A. and Adeline Theresa (Geisler) Effland. She attended and graduated from Hunter High School. She married the love of her life Darrel Kolling on July 10, 1955 at the Methodist Church in Beloit, Kansas. Her favorite pass time was spending time with her family and playing slots at the casino.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, daughter Sharon Kolling Galloway, infant son Gregory Kolling, grandson Christopher Stafford, brothers George and Mervin, and sisters Thelma and Arlene.

She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years Darrel Kolling of the home in Olathe, Kansas, two daughters Pamela Miller and her husband Mark of Lee’s Summit, Missouri and Sandra Ferris and her husband Robert of Olathe, Kansas. Shirley is also survived by her son-in-law Bill Galloway and his wife Kathleen of Overland Park, Kansas and brother-in-law Leroy Spicher of Paola, Kansas and sister-in-law Phyllis Britt of Junction City, Kansas. Left behind to cherish her memory are her eight grandchildren: Curtis Stafford, Kristen Ferris, Laura Ferris, Rachelle Snethen, Nicole Rogers, Michael Galloway, Lexie Park and Brandon Park. She will be sadly missed by her four great grandchildren: Brodie Stafford, Braylon Snethen, Bryson Snethen and Ellison Rogers.

Graveside services will be 11am, Saturday, November 30, 2013 Pleasant Valley Cemetery Stanley, Kansas. Visitation will be from 5-7pm, Friday, November 29, at the McGilley & Frye Funeral Home 105 East Loula Street Olathe, Kansas.
