Thomas Aaron Barth, born September 27, 1969 passed away at home in Raymore, Missouri, amongst family and friends, on February 7, 2024. Tom was diagnosed with colon cancer in March 2019 and was initially given 18 months at that time. He surpassed all odds and expectations and fought the hardest battle to win. The battle was lost but the war was won as Tom is now in the arms of Jesus Christ.
Tom was born in Pittsburg, Kansas but grew up in Junction City, Kansas. He graduated from Junction City High School in 1988. He attended Kansas State University and moved to the Kansas City area in 1995.
He was employed by Dillon's, and AT&T and most recently by the Union Pacific Railroad. Tom also worked for a U.S. defense contractor, BAE, and later the U.S. Department of Defense with the Army at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. He was especially proud of his work with the DoD and his contributions to the world in the War Against Terrorism. He felt he was making a positive difference, and he did just that with so many people.
Tom will be remembered for his wry sense of humor, his bottomless knowledge and the deepest love and loyalty for family and friends. He was an avid Harley Davidson rider and rode daily, weather permitting. He was known for his cowboy hats and boots; his collection of coats and jackets; his photographic memory, and his knowledge of vehicles, as well as Seinfeld trivia. He was literally never wrong. This made playing trivia games with him difficult to win, but he was always humble and was a good sport even though he knew he would win. He had an immense zest for the life that he left too soon. Tom's faithful German Shepherd "Mr. Carson" will miss him, as well as family, an immeasurable number of friends, in-laws, co-workers and others.
He is so loved by his surviving family: his cherished wife Candy (Wright) Barth, son Aaron Barth, daughter Emma Barth, daughter Lilly Barth, step daughter Bailee Lakin, sister Janie Cone and her husband Michael and nephew Miles Cone, and his parents Dor and Lydia (Evans) Barth. Tom was predeceased by his grandparents, including his special grandfather Franklin (Boompa) Evans.
A “Celebration of Life” is scheduled for Saturday afternoon March 16, 2024 from 12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. During that time a Memorial Service will begin at 1:00 p.m. Services will be held at the Monticello United Methodist Church 23860 West 75th Street Shawnee, Kansas. In memory of Tom, at the request of the family, please feel free to wear your Western or Harley Davidson attire. Tom's wish is to have his cremains scattered in the Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado, his special place with Candy and family, and a place of peace.
Condolences may be offered at McGilley & Frye Funeral Home, Olathe, Kansas.
