Naomi Mary Ellen Shields

Naomi Mary Ellen Shields, 93, of Old Bridge, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Saturday, April 3, 2010 at the Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge. Born in Bloomfield, she resided in newark and in North Arlington for many years before moving her 5 years ago. She is predeceased by her husband of 35 years, the late Eugene Shields in 1974, and her brother William Unsworth in 1968. Naomi is survived by her children, Richard Shields and his wife Mary, Patricia Shields, Roberta and her husband Dennis Farrell, James Shields, and Paul Shields and his wife Barbara. Also surviving are her 9 grandchildren, Kathleen and her husband Ken Nodes, Kevin Shields and his wife Michele, Thomas Shields and his wife Lynn, Michele Farrell, Eileen and her husband Gregg Mathews, Christine and her husband Michael Thearle, Eileen Shields, Brian Shields, and Patrick Shields. Naomi also leaves 9 greatgrandchildren, Kyle, Tyler, Conner, Bridget, Morgan, Kerry, Erin, Hayley, and James. Friends may call on Tuesday, from 3-8pm at the Hegarty Funeral Home, 3377 US Hwy. 9, Old Bridge. The Funeral Liturgy will be at St Thomas RC Church, Wednesday and is still to be confirmed. Committal will follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery, N. Arlington.
