

William K. Lyon, 87, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, April 5, 2012. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, William moved to Parlin in 1955. He worked as a controller for Gibbs & Cox in Manhattan, NY for 39 years retiring in 1989. He was a member of St. Bernadette's Church in Parlin, and was very active there with various church activites, especially the church bingo program, which he helped create. He was also a former member of the Holy Name Society. William was a US Navy veteran serving during World War II.
William was predeceased by his wife, Catherine Lyon; his daughter in law, Lynn Lyon; and his brothers, Arthur & Fred Lyon. He is survived by: his sons: Kenneth, and his wife, Carolyn; Gregory, and his wife, Marie; Richard, and his wife, Karen; Thomas, and his wife, Rosemary; and Garrett; his daughter, Grace, and her husband, Thomas Behr; 14 grandchildren & 2 great grandchildren; and his loving companion, Lynn Balde.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 9, 2012 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the Michael Hegarty Funeral Home, 3377 Rt. 9, Old Bridge, NJ 08857. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at 9:30am at St. Bernadette Church, 20 Villanova Road, Parlin, NJ 08859. Interment will follow to Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick, NJ.
