I had been away from the offices here at Vanderbilt Plaza and when I returned I learned that Danny had passed while I was away. He rode a motorcycle and I ride a bike and we always talked about being out on the road. He was a great guy and was always professional in his work. He is and will be missed.

Our office is in the Loews Vanderbilt Plaza and we just heard this week about Dan's passing. His positive outlook on day to day life and smiling face will be greatly missed around here. Anytime he delivered the mail to the office he always made me smile.  My thoughts and prayers are with the family for the loss of such a wonderful man.

Dan was more than our postman he was a people person,and every time he walked into our office he would lighten up the whole room. He ment so much to our office and we had so many memories he will truely be missed in our office and in our hearts!

Danny Was A Sweet Man He Delivered Our Mail Every Day At Joy's Flowers. He Will Be Sadly Missed, Keeping His Family In Our Thoughts And Prayers During This Difficult Time, His Memory Will Live On In All Those He Knew And Loved Him.

Dan always had a smile and a greeting.  His favorite day was Friday!  I've worked at Loews Vanderbilt for many years and can say he was more than our postman, he was our friend.  He will be missed by all that knew him here.

Pat, Luis and I are so very sorry to hear of Dan's passing.   He was such a sweet man.   We are glad we had the opportunity to meet him.   We heard the news of his passing yesterday.  God bless you and your family during this diffiuclt time.

Danny Boy!  Church Street P.O. won't be the same without you.  You sold me my first motorcycle and I'll think of you and Pat when I ride it.  Sorry you had to leave us so soon.  I'll see you at that Great KLR Rally in the sky.

This year marked 30 years that I had the pleasure of cutting Danny's hair. He was not just a loyal client, he was a treasured friend. I will dearly miss his joyful face every month. I will miss our conversations - if you knew Dan, you know he loved to talk, and your hairstylist hears it all - discussing politics, motorcycle rides, the post office, and most of all his love for his family. Oh, the look on his face when he spoke of his grandchildren was priceless. Dan was one of the most loyal people I've known...the post office, his mother, his family, the people on his mail route, and most of all Pat whom he loved dearly. Dan was such a good man. He was always looking to be helpful to others, and would give you the shirt off his back. Dan gave much to this world, and will be truly missed by all who knew him. My heart breaks with Danny's passing, and for the loss to those who also loved him.

I have worked and known Danny for many years at Church Street PO.  I always enjoyed stopping by and talking to him; he always had a pulse of what was going on locally and would share a laugh.  We will all surely miss him.

When I was 6 years old Danny told me that Kawaski's were the only motorcycle to own and always wear a Bell full face helmet.  40 years later, I still think about that every time I see a motorcycle on the road.  Just as everyone else has said, always a smile, always something positive to say, always uplifiting, I consider it an honor that he was my friend.  My deepest sympathy to his wife and family.  You are all in my prayers.

Danny Sawyer was man who loved life. He was an absolute positive influence to me.  I will miss his charming smile and caring heart. For many years, I've respected and admired him. It was always a treat to meet him on his route along West End. He'd always stop, grinning ear to ear, to visit with me, asking about my sisters, myself and our families. He will be sorely missed. My life is blessed by his love and kindess. I consider it a priviledge to have known such a fine man.

O how we are going to miss our sweet friend Danny! He would bring up the mail and always had a smile on his face and a joke to tell. We cherish the many years of memories we have.

Our office is also in the Loews Vanderbilt Hotel office complex, so we too had the pleasure of Danny's being Our Mailman.  Danny knew his customers.  He once came up to my desk and threw an envelope on it which was from my daughter in Turkey.  She had only addressed it with my name, the street name (no number!), and the zip code.  Nothing else!  But Danny got it to me.  He will be missed.  I plan to attend the Corn Bread Festival next year in Little Pittsburg in his honor.  And who knows -- we may even take the scenic route, as he would have.

Danny was a dear friend and a wonderful person.  He was like a father to me and my sisters a very long time ago.  We will miss him as he is always in our hearts.

Pat and family:  Dan has been our postal carrier here at Loews Vanderbilt Hotel for as long as I can remember.  He became our friend and we always looked forward to chatting with him.
