

Born in WestPoint, Tennessee, David was the only son of the late John Leroy(Roy) Plaskett and Beatrice (Pat) McGee Plaskett of Lawrence County, Tennessee. His early years and schooling were in Lawrenceburg, where he graduated from Lawrence County High School in 1956.
He was preceded in death by his parents, older sister Myra Sybil Plaskett Beard and his beloved daughter, Debbie Plaskett Bumbalough.
David is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Betsy Snell Plaskett; Son, Jon Plaskett; granddaughter, Brittany Bumbalough of Lebanon, Tennessee; sisters, Jane Plaskett Lunsford of Fredericksburg, Virginia and Judith Plaskett Iasiello (Terry), of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, as well as numerous nephew and nieces.
He joined the United States Army, Signal Corps, in April, 1959 and was discharged in July, 1962. He served as a Radar Repairman of Fort Monmouth, New Jersey and the Republic of Germany, attaining the rank of of Technical Specialist E-4. Loved by all who knew him, David was a dedicated, long-time member of the Ruth Ensor Memorial United Methodist Church serving his Lord faithfully in various roles. He was employed by the United States Postal Service rising to the position of Postmaster before retiring.
Visitation with the Plaskett family will be on Thursday May 26, 2022 at Ruth Ensor Memorial United Methodist Church, 306 Bridgeway Avenue, Old Hickory, Tennessee, from 12:00 noon until 2:00pm, with a funeral service to follow. Pastor Kay Herford will officiate with burial to follow at Hermitage Memorial Gardens.
David touched many lives and will forever be special to all who knew him. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in David's name may be made to Ruth Ensor Memorial United Methodist Church.
