Diane Marie Twilley, born on November 8, 1955, in Chicago, IL, was a radiant beacon of light, creativity, confidence, and love. Her life was like an unforgettable melody – rich with harmony, filled with passion, and leaving everyone who knew her inspired and longing for just one more note.
After graduating from Thornton Fractional South High School in 1973, Diane hit the road to tour with the band, We The People where music was more than a pastime – it was her heart and soul. That is until she met the love of her life, Danny Twilley. One of those “I’m going to marry that girl someday” love stories, they made a beautiful life in Nashville, TN, sharing nearly 44 years of marriage that were nothing short of wonderful.
Their home was filled with the sweet sounds of bluegrass, attending many festivals as a family where their kids would proudly take the stage. Diane and Danny passed on to their children a passion for square dancing, singing, and playing music.
Diane was a true Renaissance woman. Not only was she a gifted singer, songwriter, and musician, but her talents knew no bounds. She could sew intricate patterns, paint with a heart full of color, craft stunning flower arrangements, and whip up a meal that would make you feel right at home. Whatever she set her mind to, Diane did it with grace, natural skill, and always a touch of humor. If you needed a good laugh, all you had to do was sit beside her.
When she wasn’t at home in Nashville, Diane’s favorite place to be was at her cherished family cottage in Dowagiac, Michigan. Built by her grandparents, Michael and Rose Wuschnig, the cottage was her sanctuary – a place where the lake whispered memories of her childhood and where she created new ones with her husband, children, and grandchildren.
Diane has now been joyfully reunited with her parents, Albert and Mary Langmeyer, and her dear friend and road trip buddy, Lydia Lannom.
Diane is survived by her loving husband, Danny Twilley; her daughter, Sarah (Robbie) Harris; and her sons, Kyle (Kimberly) Twilley and Kevin (Jessica) Twilley. Diane’s grandchildren, whom she lovingly called “her grands” – Eden and Ryman Harris, Brooklyn and Autumn Twilley, and Julianna Twilley – were her pride and joy. She is also survived by her brothers, Gary (Pamela), Leonard (Cheri), and Alan (Kelli), and her nieces and nephews: Brittany, Hailey, Michael, Payton, and Justin.
A memorial for Diane will be held at a later time. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to all who have reached out and shared their love for Diane during this time.
In every note she played, every song she sang, every stitch she sewed, every hand she held, and every smile she shared, Diane will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
