Duane was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend whose steady presence and kind heart touched the lives of many. He shared a loving life with his wife, Barbara Berry, and together they built a family grounded in love, support, and quiet strength.
Duane found great joy in life's simple pleasures - early mornings on the golf course, friendly competition at the bowling alley, cheering on his beloved Chicago Cubs, and peaceful days spent fishing, especially the treasured times casting a line alongside his sons. He also enjoyed watching and caring for the birds around his home and spending time in the beauty and calm of the mountains.
Duane was an Air Force veteran who proudly served his country. He retired from the Metropolitan Board of Education in Nashville, Tennessee in 2004, where he worked as a Computer Programmer in the IT Department.
Above all, Duane cherished his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara Berry; his two sons, Jeff (Judy) Berry, Phil (Aulaire) Berry, three step-daughters, Sherry (Tom) Proctor, Glenda (Dave) Stahl, Rhonda (Bill) Howe; two brothers, Don (Marjorie) Berry, Jim (Sandy) Berry; two sisters, Ina Lou Frost, Judy Berry; grandsons, Matthew Berry, Sam Lovelace (Alicia), Westley (Lily) Cadena, Tyler Dorman, Connor Dorman; granddaughters, Samantha Berry, Briana Stahl, Bethany Stahl, Micaela (Dustin) Allen; and seven great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind extended family and friends who will remember his warmth, gentle spirit, and the way he made others feel welcome and cared for.
Duane will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, his appreciation for nature's quiet moments, his loyalty to the teams and traditions he loved, and the steady, dependable love he gave to those closest to him.
