Flossie L. Anderson

Flossie Long was born on November 22, 1925, in Poteet, Texas. She passed away on Monday, September 5, 2022. Attending high school in Freer, Texas, she played the French horn in the high school band. After moving to Corpus Christi, Flossie met Max Anderson, a handsome cadet assigned to the nearby naval air station. Within a few months, they were married on June 25, 1944. Max and Flossie were married almost 77 years, until Max’s passing in April, 2021.

They were blessed with two children, Janice and Glen. Flossie was a loving wife and mother, a “Proverbs 31” homemaker. She enjoyed sewing (often making her own patterns), crocheting, and quilting. She loved cooking for family and friends. Pecan pies were a favorite with everyone. She took cake-decorating classes, making many birthday cakes for their grandchildren, Andi and Scott. Church activities were an important part of her life. For several years Flossie taught 4- and 5-year-olds. She worked with each child to memorize John 3:16. She loved music and being part of the church choir. As seniors, Max and Flossie were faithful greeters on Sunday mornings. Her life was a testimony to the love of Christ.

Flossie was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Henry Long and Lessie Belle Russell; by her siblings, Isom, Hubert, Myra, and Floyd; and by her son, Glen William Anderson.

She is survived by daughter, Janice Mayhugh (William); sister-in-law, Laveta Long; daughter-in-law, Sally Atchley; grandchildren, Andi Anderson (Jim), and Scott Anderson (Lacey); and great-grandson, Cash Hendrix Anderson.

Gathering of family and friends Friday September 9, 2022 from 9:00am until 10:00am at Victory Baptist Church, 177 Tate Lane, Mount Juliet, TN 37122, Funeral will begin at 10:00am also at the church. Burial following Hermitage Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations can be made to Victory Baptist Church Building Fund.
