Glen decided to serve and protect our country by enlisting with the Armed Forces and, honorably, served in the United States Navy from 1959 until 1961. He had a continuous membership at the American Legion Post 88 in Donelson for forty-seven years and was a lifetime member of the VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars). Glen was a member of the Baptist faith.
After his military service, Glen became a truck driver and drove until he retired. For many of his years on the road, he drove for Yellow Freight. Glen has enjoyed bowling at the American Legion for years. His favorite television shows could be found on the Game Show Network. He had a beautiful backyard and enjoyed watching and feeding the various deer, birds, squirrels, and other wildlife making their way onto the scene. He was always joyful, happy, and had the biggest heart. He loved well . . . was well-loved . . . and will be greatly missed.
Glen is preceded in death by his father, Homer Goins; his mother, Zena Beyers James Goins; his wife, Joy Goins; his sister, Rose Campbell; and his brother, Ron Goins. He is survived by his son, Curtis R. Goins (Glenda); stepson, Michael Johnson (Devonne); granddaughter, Dawn Michelle Johnson; grandsons, Anthony Goins (Kristy) and G. W. Goins (Samantha); great grandsons Shane Goins, Austin Goins, Wyatt Goins, Braxton Goins; and special companion, Christie Cherry.
