Harold Mabry Newman

Harold Mabry Newman, age 82 of Old Hickory, TN, passed away January 11, 2019. He was the son of Clarence Homer (Pickey) and Gladys Irene (Mabry) Newman, who precedes him in death. He is also preceded in death by his son, David Newman and brother, Robert Newman.

Harold is survived by his wife, Mary Oliver-Newman; daughters, Terry Eakes (Alan) and Robinette Jackson; sons, Richard Oliver and Dwayne Oliver; grandchildren, Michael Mulloy, Leslie Tubberville (Kevin), Anthony Oliver, Morgan Oliver, Victoria Oliver and Brittany Jackson; great-grandchildren, Bryson Tubberville, Jacob Tubberville, MacKenzie Oliver and Layla Jackson; sister, Betty Jean Barkley (Bernard “Bubba”); several nieces and nephews.

Harold was a member of Victory Baptist Church. He had served as a Wilson County Commissioner in the early 1980’s. He had owned and operated several businesses during his life. He was a great friend and was loved by many in the community.

A Celebration of Life Service will be 2:30 pm Monday, January 14, 2019 at Hermitage Funeral Home, 535 Shute Lane, Old Hickory, TN with Dr. Chuck Grover and Bro. Bruce Grubbs officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Hermitage Memorial Gardens. Family members will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation with the family will be from 3:00 - 6:00 pm Sunday, January 13, 2019 and from 1:00 - 2:30 pm Monday, January 14, 2019 at the funeral home.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the Staff of McKendree Rehabilitation Unit for their loving care and attention they gave Harold.
