Mr. Merryman is a veteran of the United States Navy, having served during World War II. In later years, he was an avid motorcyclist and officer of the BMW Motorcycle Club of Nashville. He was also an avid supporter of the Boys Scouts of America and former Scoutmaster of Troop #260. Above all, Mr. Merryman was a doting grandfather and loved his family with all his heart. He loved well . . . was well-loved . . . and will be greatly missed.
Mr. Merryman is preceded in death by his father, Walter David Merryman; his mother, Josephine Gourley Merryman; and his loving wife, Ruby Joyce (Nowell) Merryman. He is survived by son, David Michael Merryman; son, Walter Keith Merryman (Judy); grandson, Jeffrey Keith Merryman (Shelby); great grandson, Luke Merryman; sister, Margaret Louise "Patsy" (Merryman) Whitesell; niece, Judith Anderson; nephew, Robin Whitesell (Leslie); and nieces Lillian, Martha, Betsy, and Mary Margaret. Mr. Merryman also leaves behind a host of loving extended family members and friends.
There will be a Gathering of Family & Friends for Mr. Merryman at the Hermitage Funeral Home on Friday, February 9, from 9am - 11am. Following the time of visitation, Mr. Merryman will be laid to rest in a Graveside Service at 11:00am in the Garden of Peace at Hermitage Memorial Gardens. Dr. Randy Berkner will officiate.
