He was born in Nashville and has been a life long resident of the area. He was an over-the-road truck driver for Overnight Transportation and for the Birmingham and Nashville line. He was a member of Donelson View Baptist Church.
John is survived by his wife Juanita, his son Tommy (Mary Bailey) Filson, his brother George Filson and grandchildren Levi Filson and Garrett Filson.
There will be a visitation on Thursday, April 1, from 1 till 2 pm, with a funeral service at 2 pm at Hermitage Funeral Home. Burial will be at Hermitage Memorial Gardens.
