Johnny Curtis "J.C." Akins

Johnny Curtis "J.C." Akins, age 83 of Mt. Juliet, passed away Monday, May 25, 2015. Preceded in death by his wife, Vera Ann Akins and sons, Christopher Curtis and Bobby Akins. Survived by his children, David (Connie) Akins, Alan (Kelsey) Akins, Brenda (Tim) Spoon, Glenda (Brian) Urbahns, Joel (Wanda) Hamner and Edward (Candy) Mitchell; 17 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Mr. Akins was a member of Baker's Grove Baptist Church and the Mt. Juliet Senior Citizens Center. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a beloved youth baseball coach. He was retired from Film Transit and Opryland Tours. A Celebration of Life service will be conducted Noon Thursday, May 28, 2015 in Hermitage Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bobby Devine officiating. Interment will follow in Hemitage Memorial Gardens with Michael Hogan Jr., Andrew Urbahns, Matthew Powers, Corey Akins, Scott Petty, Zac Wolfe, Collin Gatlin and Steven Frye serving as active pallbearers. Visitation with the family 4 - 8 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. - Noon Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Juliet Senior Citizens Center, 2034 N. Mt. Juliet Road, Mt.
