Johnny was a 1965 graduate of the Tennessee School for the Deaf where he earned a certificate in the printing industry. While at TSD, he was a record-breaking athlete in football and track. He worked in Nashville, TN, at Marshall & Bruce for 31 years and retired in 2010.
Following retirement, Johnny spent his time traveling the world with his wife, Judith Maynard, and making memories with his family. He will best be remembered for his work ethic, honesty, and huge smile. His favorite job was that of "Papa".
In addition to his parents, Johnny is preceded in death by his 5 siblings, and Sandra J. Maynard, his wife of 45 years and mother to his children.
Johnny is survived by his wife, Judith Maynard; children, John M. Maynard (Mari Anne), J. Todd Maynard (Amy), and Tammy D. Edwards (Mark); grandchildren, Hannah Maynard, Halle Maynard, Isabella Blackburn, Chandler Maynard, Kevin Edwards, Kristyn Howell; two great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.
There will be a Gathering of Family & Friends on Monday, April 19, 2021, from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm and Tuesday, April 20, 2021, from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at Hermitage Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will follow Tuesday's time of visitation in the Chapel on Tuesday, April 20, at 12:00pm. The interment will follow, immediately, follow the Celebration of Life in the Garden of the Cross at Hermitage Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Ronnie Adcock, Ryan Adcock, Chip Adcock, Sam Mixer, Jaxson Knowles, and Michael Booysen.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Bridges for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing and Alive Hospice.
