

Ms. Petty was born on September 16, 1934 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late Mary Bernice Bauman and husband, Charles Mitchell Bauman. As the middle child of three sisters, Charlene Hargis (oldest) and Sandra Ciuffo, deceased (youngest), Ms. Petty was a proud graduate of East High School (Nashville, TN), where she was an active student and athlete. Ms. Petty was married to the love of her life, the late Robert (Bob) James Petty, for over 67 years.
A devout Christian and follower of Christ, Ms. Petty attended Lebanon Road Church of Christ where she was a member for over sixty years. Along with her husband, Ms. Petty owned a successful business, “Bob Petty Optical,” where she was a dispensing optician, manager, and bookkeeper for over 30 years until her retirement. Survived by her daughter, Angela (J.K.) Graves (Adairville, KY); grandchildren, Jon Tyler (Grace) Graves (Springfield, TN) and Alex Hunter (April) Graves (Vass, NC); great-grandchildren, Grayson Graves, Bailey Graves, Sawyer Graves, and Florrie Jane Graves. She was known as "Mams" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ms. Petty is also survived by her oldest sister, Charlene Hargis (Nashville, TN); nephews, Larry Hargis (Murfreesboro, TN) and Mike (Leah) Marklin (Haslet, TX); and niece, Linda Hargis (Nashville, TN)
Active pallbearers include; J.K. Graves, Jon Graves, Alex Graves, Mike Marklin, Sgt. Maj. Gary Payne and Flint Redwine. Honorary pallbearers will be; Larry Hargis, Grayson Graves, Bentley Parrish and Sawyer Graves.
Gathering of family and friends Tuesday February 13, 2024 from 12:00pm until 2:00pm at Hermitage Funeral Home. Celebration of Life will begin at 2:00pm in the Tulip Grove room at Hermitage Funeral Home with Brother J.K. Graves officiating. Interment will follow at Hermitage Memorial Gardens.
