He was born in Chillicothe, Missouri, the son of the late Herman LaFever and Della Belle Dawkins Shirley. SGM LaFever, Ret., has over 50 years of Active Federal service in the Army, Air Force, and Federal Aviation Administration. He was an excellent son, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and soldier for 84 years. He was the most generous, caring, and technically gifted person in the world. His love was for his family, and countless others, such as the children and people of Corregidor Island in the Phillippines.
He is survived by his loving wife, two sons, two daughters, and over 25 grand and great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation with the family will be on Sunday, July 23, 2017 at Hermitage Funeral Home from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm with a Rosary Service from 7:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Visitation will also be on Monday, July 24, 2017 at Hermitage Funeral Home from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm.
The Celebration of Life Service will be Monday, July 24, 2017 at Hermitage Funeral Home at 2:00 pm with Father Phil Halladay officiating.
