Marie owned the first meat and three in LaVergne the Kountry Korner and later a construction company The Barn Yard. She was an accomplished carpenter and seamstress. In her free time she enjoyed bowling, watching the Atlanta Braves and TN VOLS, women's basketball especially when Pat Summit was coaching. Most of all she enjoyed being with her family.
She is survived by her children Nina (Roger)Graham, Lee Edward Shaffer, Kamante Shaffer and Marvin Andrew Shaffer; 18 grand children, 20 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and a large extended family.
Mrs. Shaffer is preceded in death by her husband Mahlon “Sam” Shaffer; her children Tina Skinner and M.L. Perry Jr. ; her siblings Hayes, Jack, Bruce and Ruby and her longtime partner Tommy Wright.
