Marjorie Brown Scott, 97, a resident of Franklin, TN, went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 10, 2026. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years, Edgar Howard Scott, Jr; parents, Cecil Scott Brown and Marie Austin Brown; and brother, Robert Scott Brown.
She is survived by her daughter, Suzanne Scott (Larry) Hayes of Brentwood, TN; brother, Murray Austin Brown of Little Rock, AR; five nephews, two nieces, and many loving friends.
Born December 4, 1928, Margie grew up in Dickson, TN. In the late 1940s she moved to Nashville, and in 1953 married the love of her life, Howard. She worked for the United Methodist Publishing House for several years before devoting herself to being a full-time
mother to Suzanne. An avid collector of early American and primitive antiques, she later became an antiques dealer. In 1984 she opened Spring Valley Antiques in Hermitage, and through the years developed lasting friendships with many of her customers. Margie was also a gifted gardener, spending countless happy hours tending to her beautiful flowers. However, her greatest accomplishment was creating a wonderful family life with Howard
and Suzanne. Their home was filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
A devout Christian, Margie was a faithful member of Tulip Grove Baptist Church. She regularly attended the Friendship Sunday School Class, taught in the children’s Sunday school program, and volunteered with Room in the Inn. When declining health prevented
her from attending church, she continued to worship and study God’s Word through Dr. Charles Stanley’s In Touch Ministries.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 15, 4 p.m.-7 p.m., and Friday, January 16, 10 a.m-11a.m. at Hermitage Funeral Home, 535 Shute Lane, Old Hickory, TN. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 16, at 11 a.m. at Hermitage Funeral Home, with Pastor Todd Capps officiating. Interment will be at Hermitage Memorial Gardens following the service. Pallbearers will be Larry Hayes, Scott Brown, Marshall Brown, Mike Agee, Gary Henrich,
and Billy Jones.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses, caregivers, and staff of NHC Place Cool Springs, for the excellent care they provided to Margie in her final years.
