Marlene began her career and worked with Corron and Black for more than forty years where she retired. While working downtown at the L & C tower, she met her best friend and lifelong companion, Ms. Betty Kimbro. They shared life to the fullest with phone calls every day just to talk. They truly loved each other for over sixty-seven years.
Marlene met her husband, Jim, at Madison Bowl and entered into a life of bowling, as a participant and always helping Jim to get his bowling meetings together.
Marlene was feverish fan of the University of Tennessee Vols and the Tennessee Titans. She read all the articles she could find to keep up-to-date with college and professional football. Every Saturday in the fall season, she would show off her many UT shirts.
Marlene always looked forward to Sunday mornings as we all went to church to sing praises and learn more about God’s Word. Often, her parents and Mitch would travel out of town to hear speakers and worship.
Reading and writing was one of her favorite pastimes. Loving to read along with writing several letters to the editor at the Tennessean, hoping to be awarded the 3star mail of the day. She received The Tennessean every year for more than twenty years.
Animals were her soft spot. From puppies to deer, she would protect and worry about animals that needed help. She loved sitting on the back porch with Jim feeding and watching all the wild life.
Mrs. Rollins lived a full and active life up until her recent illness. She now rests in heaven with Jesus, the angles and her soul mate, Jim.
