Martha Jane Bass

Martha “Polly” Jane Bass, age 84, of Mt. Juliet, TN passed peacefully on September 12, 2024 surrounded by family. Martha was born on September 27, 1939 in Sweetwater, TN and was the daughter of late, Joe and Clementine Barrett, and loving wife of Robert (Bob) Bass. She was a graduate of Liberty High School in 1958 and a retiree from Sun Chemical Corporation after many years of dedicated work. Martha will be devotedly missed by her husband of 66 years, their daughters, and family. She was a beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great- Grandmother. She took pride in creating everything with her own hands whether it be painting ceramics, canning foods from her garden, making clothing, or sewing quilts. She personalized anything she touched. Martha also enjoyed traveling to 48 different States with Bob over the years in their RV in tow. When she wasn’t traveling, she loved being outdoors and maintaining her beautiful vegetable and flower gardens. She will be remembered for her spunky and sassy personality, her creativity and the love she shared with those around her.

Martha Proceeded in death by: Her Parents, six sisters and two half siblings.

She is survived by her; sister Annette Cripps; children; Terrie (Gary) Cantrell, Donna (Tim) Wood, Martha (Pam) Bass; Grandchildren; Rusty, Thomas (Mandy) Osburne, Tiffany (Randall) Mimms; and Great Grandchildren: Tyler Osburne and Knox Mimms.

Family and friends are invited to come together in a celebration of her life, to share memories and stories together.

Visitation will be held at Hermitage Funeral Home on Monday September 16, 2024 from 10:00am-12:00pm. Funeral will begin at 12:00 noon in the Tulip Grove Room at Hermitage Funeral Home. Burial following Hermitage Memorial Gardens.

Honorary pallbearers are her loved ones; Thomas Osburne, Tyler Osburne, Rusty Wilson, Randall Mimms, Tim Wood and Gary Cantrell.
