She was born in Huntsville, Tennessee, to the late Archie “Joe Bush” Sexton and Christine Stephens Sexton. Mary Jo held hands with her future husband, Roy Duncan, in the first grade and they have been together ever since. She was a homemaker and enjoyed collecting snow babies and blouses. If Mary Jo found a blouse she liked, she would buy it in every color available. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Willie Joe Duncan, and sisters, Evelyn Miner and Shirley Roberts.
Mary Jo is survived by her devoted husband of 61 years, Roy Duncan; daughter, Deborah (Jimmy) Gilbert; three grandchildren, Chad (Jessica) Gilbert, Melissa (Jonathan) Gibson and Alice Joe Duncan; six great grandchildren; three siblings, Martha Lou Hague, Virginia Rose Law and Paul “Dennie” (Lisa) Sexton; numerous nieces and nephews, and many, many close friends.
Visitation will be at Hermitage Funeral Home on Sunday, February 9, 2020 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and Monday, February 10, 2020 from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm.
The Celebration of Life will be at Hermitage Funeral Home on Monday, February 10, 2020 at 1:00 pm with Tim Jeffers officiating.
Interment will follow at Hermitage Memorial Gardens.
