Paul Ronald (Ron) McDermitt , age 72, of Mt. Juliet, TN, passed away on February 6, 2020. He was born in Harriman, TN on March 28, 1947 to William Franklin (Frank) & Crochia (Parham) McDermitt. He is the youngest of their four children.
He graduated from Harriman High School where he played football. He then attended Tennessee Tech University where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. He served in the United States Army and received a National Defense Service and Good Conduct Medal. He worked and retired from the Tennessee Department of Transportation as a Finance Director.
He is a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. While he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, he also had a passion for attending church, exercising, attending sporting events, playing cards with friends, and traveling. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Crochia McDermitt, brother Tommy McDermitt, and sister, Betty Sue Nall.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Sue (Brown) McDermitt; daughters Michele Marie McDermitt and Rhonda Lynette Bean (Matt); sons, Gregory Allen McDermitt, and Paul Marcus McDermitt (Catherine); sister, Louise Russell. Grandchildren; Joshua Broadway, Sarah Broadway, Gabriel McDermitt, Gavin Bean, Lucas Bean, Sydney Bean, Sullivan McDermitt, and Benjamin McDermitt. Great-Grandchildren; Lucas Broadway, Sadie Broadway, and Joshua Broadway, Jr, as well as many nieces & nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be 10:00 am Monday, February 10, 2020 at Hermitage Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Dearth, Pastor Chuck Workman, and Pastor Todd Capps officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Hermitage Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers will be Ross Hayes, Matt Bean, Mark McDermitt, Greg McDermitt, Gabe McDermitt, and Rusty Fish.
Visitation with the family will be from 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm Sunday, February 9, 2020 and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hosptial at Vanderbilt or Shiloh Baptist Church Building Fund.
