David graduated from Mississippi College and received his Master’s Degree at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and became a minister. He was also the Copy Editor for The Tennessean/Gannett newspaper, from which he retired from in 2000 after 24 years of service.
David was preceded in death by: his parents Birdie and Dr. William A Keel, Sr.; brothers Pinkney Durham Keel and William (Bill) A. Keel, Jr.
David is survived by: his loving wife Margaret Keel; daughter Nancy Catherine Rivers (Jeffrey); son Richard Durham Keel; grandchildren Jeffrey Michael Rivers, Jr. (Allison Lumpkin), Emily Rivers and Michelle Rager (Darren); great grandchildren: Collin Rivers, K.J. Neltner, Kristen Neltner and Vera Rager.; and many nieces and nephews.
Gathering of family and friends Monday March 27, 2023 from 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm at Hermitage Funeral Home. Celebration of Life will begin at 2:00pm in the Tulip Grove Room at Hermitage Funeral Home. Entombment following Hermitage Memorial Gardens.
