Robert Keith Howard, a beloved and devoted individual, left this world for the next on November 23, 2025, at the age of 90. Known to family and friends as Keith, he was a resident of Mt Juliet, Tennessee. Born on February 9, 1935, Keith was a kind-hearted and loyal man who touched the lives of many.
Keith grew up in Mooresville, North Carolina, and graduated from Maryville College in Maryville, Tennessee. He served his country with distinction in the United States Army, exemplifying his hard-working and generous nature.
In June 1956, Keith met his loving wife, Katherine Donna Howard, on a blind date, and by August, they were married. Their union lasted for 67 wonderful years until her passing. Together, they raised a family that includes his late son, Robert Douglas Howard, and surviving daughters, Kimberly L. Bradley (David Capley) and Tambra R. "Tammy" Russell (Tom). Keith was also a proud grandfather to Luke Bradley, Tiffany Holman, Sean Russell, Hannah Russell, and Ty Russell, and he cherished his role as a great-grandfather to five great-grandchildren. His faithful feline companion, "Dennis," along with numerous nieces and nephews, will miss him dearly.
Keith had a successful career with GMAC, retiring after thirty years of dedicated service. He was a man of many interests, particularly enjoying woodworking and the outdoors. He was meticulous about how his yard was mowed and, in later years, found joy in watching westerns and football, with the Tennessee Titans being his favorite team. Keith also enjoyed drawing plans for furniture and then building them, showcasing his creative talents.
His personal qualities of frugality and faithfulness were evident in his actions and legacy. He often expressed his love through deeds rather than words, famously saying, "Why would I have to tell you I love you if you can't tell by my actions?" He also offered practical advice, reminding others to "Be sure to check the oil in your car."
There will be a Gathering of Family and Friends at Hermitage Funeral Home on Friday, November 28, from 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm, and on Saturday, November 29, from 12:00 pm -12:45 pm. A Celebration of Keith's Life will follow in the Tulip Grove Chapel at 1:00 pm with Pastor Charles Allen officiating. Following the service, Keith will be laid to rest next to his wife in the Garden of Faith at Hermitage Memorial Gardens.
