He is survived by brothers, John Van Atta and his wife Debbie of Hermitage, TN, Fred Van Atta and his wife Cathy; sister, Debra Mills; nieces, Lesley Heiland of Murfreesboro, TN, Lauren McMahan of Brentwood, TN and Lisa Van Atta of Los Angeles, CA.
Robert worked as an IT Specialist in the trucking industry, but his main interest was playing classical music. He had a Master’s Degree in Piano Performance. In addition to his love for classical music, he had a deep devotion to his Mother as she struggled with a terminal illness.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm Monday, June 12, 2017 at Hermitage Funeral Home, 535 Shute Lane, Old Hickory, TN 37138. Interment will follow in Hermitage Memorial Gardens. Serving as Active Pallbearers will be John Van Atta, Grant Hitt, Bert McMahan, Andrew Heiland and Cody Heiland. Serving as Honorary Pallbearer will be Tommy Van Atta.
