Roy R. Petty

PETTY, Roy R. - Age 63 of Old Hickory, February 9, 2011. Preceded in death by parents, Malcom and Doris Petty. Survived by his wife of 45 years, Judy Petty; daughter, Melissa Petty Jones of Franklin; son, Scott Petty of Old Hickory; granddaughters, Lauren Jones, Angelia Petty; grandson, Scott Dell Petty. Mr. Petty was a Certified Welding Inspector since 1979, and worked for World Testing of Mt. Juliet for the last 15 years. He was AWS Chairman for 4 years and also was Certified Welding Inspector of the Year, 4 times. Mr. Petty was a tournament fisherman and was a member of several local chapters. Funeral service to be conducted 12 Noon on Saturday, February 12, 2011 in Hermitage Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Bruce Grubbs officiating. Interment will follow at 2 p.m., in Dickson County Memorial Gardens. Serving as Active Pallbearers will be Tim and Mike Petty, Lance Davis, Billy Melton, Wayne Bobbit and Bill Judkins. To all who knew and/or worked with Roy Petty over the years:

Many have asked how to pay tribute to Roy and pay respect to Judy, Melissa and Scott. The family has asked that tributes be made in the way of a scholarship fund. The Nashville chapter of the American Welding Society gives out annual scholarships for further education.

The Roy R. Petty Scholarship fund is being set up by the AWS Nashville Chapter to honor the legacy of Roy in the Welding and Inspection industry.
