Royce McDowell

Royce E. McDowell Age 86 of Old Hickory, TN passed away June 18, 2015. He was born on May 10, 1929 to Roy McDowell and Millicent McDowell in Central City, Kentucky. He graduated from Central City High . Royce married Martha J. Brown on August 7, 1959.

Royce served in the Naval Reserve for almost 12 years where he was honorably discharged in 1959. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Donelson, TN.

Royce worked at Old Republic Insurance followed by the Home Insurance Company where he held various positions inclusive of Claims and Vice President of the Nashville operation. He retired in 1994 after 31 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and photography and had a great love of family and friends. Royce always had a smile for everyone.

The family is especially grateful to the team of caregivers at McKendree Village and Alive Hospice.

Royce was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Millicent McDowell of Central City, KY and his brother, Larry McDowell of Ormond Beach, FL.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories his wife Martha McDowell of 56 years, daughter, Donna McDowell, sister-in-law Natalie McDowell of Ormond Beach, FL, his brother Ronnie McDowell and his wife Glenda McDowell of Central City, KY, and his sister Beverly Kruger and her husband Lewis Kruger of Owensboro, KY.

A Funeral service will be conducted at 2pm Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at the Hermitage Funeral Home with Bro. Chuck Groover officiating. Burial will follow in the Hermitage Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the service.
