

MCCLUNG, Sam Jackson, age 93, passed away Friday, December 27, 2013. Preceded in death by his parents, Oliver Sessor and Eola Gann McClung; sisters, Vassie Bradley and Georgie Massey; brothers, Ray, Nall, Joe York and Nolen McClung. Survived by his wife of 73 years, Jean Pentecost McClung; daughters, Patsy (Larry) Harrison and Kathy (John) Carneal; granddaughter, Susan (Scott) Harrison Vieira; grandson, Mark (Molly) Carneal; great grandsons, Sam Carneal and Harrison Vieira; great granddaughter, Sarah Beth Carneal; brother, Ores McClung; sister, Atha (Joe) O’Guin; sister-in-law, Willie Mae McClung. Sam was a long time member of Old Hickory United Methodist Church, a U.S. Navy World War II veteran and was a retired Supervisor at DuPont in 1981 with 41 years of service. He was well known for his blue eyes. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at Old Hickory United Methodist Church with Rev. Jay Voorhees officiating. Interment will follow in Hermitage Memorial Gardens. Larry Harrison, John Carneal, Mark Carneal, Scott Vieira, Carnes Flatt, Charles White, Prentice Huffines and Steve Brown will serve as Active Pallbearers. Visitation with the family 4 – 8 p.m. Monday at the Funeral Home and 10 – 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Church.
