

Mrs. Priebe was born in Foxworth, MS, on November 27, 1918, the daughter of the late Joseph Bardy Carter and India Lavada Poole. She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Purvis, MS for many years and had attended FBC Donelson, Nashville, TN for the last seven years. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Priebe was preceded in death by her five brothers, J.T., James W., Edwin, Thomas and Arthur Carter and three sisters, Mary Lucille Erichson, Lottie Stuart and Gertrude Steelman; her husband of 54 years, Roscoe M. Priebe, Sr and son, Roscoe M. Priebe, Jr.
She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Peggy Freeman (Luther); daughter, Maureen Priebe Cameron (Rod, deceased), daughter in-law, Vickie Priebe Butner (Alan), five grandchildren, Alana C. Brown (Ray), Scott W. Cameron (Sheila), India Triplett (Mike Hopper), Sean Priebe (Sarah), Michelene Meachum (Brad); eight great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Priebe had an exciting life travelling with her husband across the United States as he was a civilian government employee during World War II, building at many defense locations, including Wright-Patterson AFB.
She worked away from the home for several years as an interior designer after her two children were grown and then retired to being a homemaker.
She enjoyed her Sunday Class in Purvis, MS and started a quilting class where 6-8 women would gather every week and turn out a queen size quilt (by hand) in a month.
She moved to Nashville, TN to be with her daughter in 2006 after Hurricane Katrina, as it was time to give up the three acres of lawn she had kept up by herself for nearly 25 years.
A graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 am Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Roseland Park Cemetery in Hattiesburg, MS.
