Thomas Sword

Tom was knowledgeable, witty, and friendly to all who met him. He was a dedicated airplane mechanic who had a childlike love for all aircraft and got a thrill when others shared that enthusiasm with him. Tom was particular in his work and applied that skill to his love of woodworking and home improvement. His house was his work of art and he found pleasure in getting the details right. Tom found solace watching his beloved fishtank and liked to find fun ways to decorate it. He enjoyed grilling out and was always ready for s’mores with the kids.

Tom is preceded in death by father, Carl Sword; mother, Emma Sword, and step-grandson, Austin Wilkerson. Tom is survived by his brother James Sword; sister Christee (Michael) King; son Eric H. (Katie L.) Sword; and stepdaughters Angela (Lee) Wilkerson; Alyson (Shane) Decker; and Abigail Guitierez. He is also survived by 2 grandchildren: Jack H. Sword; Luke R. Sword; and 7 step-grandchildren: Alyssa Wilkerson; Adam Wilkerson; Alex Spickard; Tommy Guitierez; Seth Decker; Kyle Decker; and Jack Decker.

Tom's Memorial Visitation and Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2024, at Hermitage Funeral Home, located at 535 Shute Lane, Old Hickory, TN 37138. The Memorial Visitation with Family will be from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm with a Celebration of Life directly after from 2:00 pm - 2:45 pm.
