Wiley Maurice Jackson Jr.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Thursday, February 22, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Hermitage Funeral Home, 535 Shute Ln, Old Hickory, TN 37138, followed by a Celebration of Life at 2:00 PM.

Maurice was born October 17, 1930 in Clarksville, Tennessee. He was the son of Wiley M. Jackson, Sr., and Claytie Hayes Jackson. He is survived by his wife, Shirley E. Jackson, daughter Anna Jackson Withers (Ron), stepdaughter Cathie Moss, stepson Mike Lovely (Jody), grandchildren Rachel Withers Cawley (Keith), Kaitlin Withers Vantrease (Josh), step grandchildren Elizabeth Curtis (Brian), Jes Summar, Jenna O'Bryan (Matt), Kaila Maynard (Logan), and Michael Lovely II. Maurice was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Betty Grice, his brother John Jackson, his first wife Evelyn Underwood Jackson, and his son Preston Jackson.

Maurice was a veteran of the Korean War and spent much of his professional life in teaching and vocational education administration. Maurice will be immeasurably missed by those who knew him, most of all by family and friends, and remembered as smart, kind and funny. He always had a joke to tell, was always learning or trying something new, and never met a stranger.

Pallbearers for the Celebration of Life will be Ron Withers, Keith Cawley, Josh Vantrease, Mike Lovely, Mike Adams, Percy Sidney, and Tom Lewis (Honorary Pallbearer).
