William Paul "Bill" Goins

William Paul "Bill" Goins, age 94 of Hermitage passed away peacefully in his sleep March 29, 2017. Preceded in death by his parents, Sammie and Ollie Miller Goins; grandson, Hayden Lee Goins and 9 siblings. Survived by his wife of 63 years, Shirley; sons, William P. (Angie) Goins, Jr. and David L. (Mindy) Goins; grandchildren, Calla and Neylan, Dalton; step grandchildren, Sasha, Cheyenne, Logan and Jade; sisters, Mary Davis, Elsie Mason, Ruth Cold and Mildred Page; brothers, Joseph, Rayford, Harold and Kenneth Wayne; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Bill was a Navy veteran on WWII and the Korean War serving a total of 7 years. He retired as a machinist, IAM Local 735 from Avco Aerostructures/Textron/Triumph after 33 years of service. Bill was a member of Central Pike Church of Christ. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who loved baseball (The Atlanta Braves), hunting, fishing and above all gardening. He grew some of the best tomatoes and vegetables you ever ate. Bill sacrificed in his own life for the benefit of his family and left a legacy of hard work and responsibility. He will be missed by all. Visitation with the family will be from 2pm until 6 pm on Sunday, April , 2, 2017 and Monday from Noon until 2 pm. A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted 2 pm Monday in Hermitage Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jerry Sawyer of Central Pike Church of Christ officiating. Interment will follow in Hermitage Memorial Gardens. Larry Walker, Mark Cole, Philip Goins, Barry Goins, Ronnie Goins and George Page will serve as Active Pallbearers. Darryl Goins and Billy Goins will serve as Alternates. Mike Goins and Cliff Cole will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
