Andy was born on July 11, 1935, in Brooklyn, NY, to the late Charles Hansen and the late Lillian Pearson Hansen. He was a 1953 graduate of Long Island’s Hempstead High School. He was employed for several years by the Robert A. Keasbey Company in New York City, before serving in the Army from 1958 to 1960 with the Philadelphia Air Defense. Several post-military jobs at Long Island banks led to a position at the J. P. Morgan Bank in New York City.
After his retirement, Andy spent his time doing all the things he loved. He was an avid reader who enjoyed discussing the books he had read with his fellow bookworms. Andy spent many hours during the summer months tending to his garden. He loved to travel, especially throughout his ancestral homeland of Europe and his favorite city, Paris. Andy also enjoyed theater and accumulated a large collection of Playbills over more than 70 years.
He was preceded in death by his older siblings, Charles Hansen, Jr. of San Diego, CA, and Barbara Hansen of Ridge, NY, and by his companion of 31 years, Dr. Benjamin Marbury. He is survived by his companion of 21 years, Kevin Smith.
A private interment of his ashes will be scheduled at a future date.
