

Mrs. Moriarty was born on May 28, 1939 in St. Leonard, N.B. Canada the daughter of Alyre and Alma Arsenault. She married Thomas Moriarty in 1964 in Glastonbury CT. She was an employee of The East Lyme Board of Education, working at Flanders Elementary School for 15 years.
Gerry was a devoted wife, loving mother, doting grandmother, and best friend. She will always be remembered for her warm smile, friendly nature, and indomitable spirit. She will be dearly missed by her loving husband Tom, daughters Julie and Joan, son Colin, daughter-in-law Carmen and grandson Adam.
Gerry was a daily communicant of Christ The King Church, Old Lyme and an active parishioner . She was a member of the choir and of the morning prayer group affectionally known as “The God Squad”. Upon completing the diocesan Lay Ministry program she became a daily lector and an eucharistic minister. She was a founding member of The New Life Ministry, a faith based transitional program for women released from the York Correctional Prison for Women. In her role as a mentor she helped dozens of women to reenter the community. During the Jubilee Year 2000 celebration she worked as a tour guide at the Vatican.
Gerry had a zest for life and enjoyed being active. She loved nature and enjoyed outdoor activities. With husband Tom she made several cycling trips in Europe and across the United States, visiting and cycling in national parks. She was an avid skier who enjoyed cross country skiing in New England and in Canada.. She loved walking her beach and the shoreline state parks. She always looked forward to her Wednesday night bridge with neighbors and friends, who she regarded as extended family.
Gerry is also survived by sisters Lorraine of Montreal, Jeannine Cote, Ashford, and Maxine Charette, West Hartford, and brothers Ronald and Norbert, Montreal
