

She was raised in New Britain where she graduated from New Britain High School in 1957 as a member of the National Honor Society. Jackie worked part-time as a secretary at North and Judd in New Britain, where she continued to work full time after graduation.
Jackie met her future husband, Louis Mildrum Jr. at Sound View Beach in Old Lyme while on summer vacation with friends. They married a little more than a year later on September 24, 1960 at St. Mary’s Church in New Britain.
Jackie is survived by her husband of 64 years, Louis Mildrum Jr. of Lyme, her daughter Donna Mildrum of Colchester, her daughter Joyce Johnson and her husband John Johnson of Colchester, and her son Michael Mildrum of Fayetteville, NC. In addition she is survived by her sister Cecilia Collin and her husband Pat Collin of South Carolina, her brother James Dumas and his wife Carol Dumas of Florida, and her brother in law James Mildrum of Old Lyme. Jackie was blessed with several grandchildren; Scott Malcolm of Westbrook, Pamela Malcolm of Colchester, Christopher Zotynia of New London, Alvan Simmons of Hartford, Christopher Nurse of Niantic, Avery Moore of Colchester, Hanna Moore of Colchester, and Terrance Moore of Willimantic. She also leaves three great-grandchildren, Willow Malcolm of Colchester, Jaidyn Simmons of Norwich, and Elijah Simmons of Hartford.
Jackie was a stay at home mom for many years after starting a family in 1961. During that time she also volunteered at the library of Lyme Consolidated School, and as a Brownie troop leader. She reentered the work force in the mid-1970s as a home health aide. She then returned to secretarial work in the late 1970s, first at Brownell & Co in Moodus, then at Scott & Daniels (later Pharmagraphics) in Portland as an Executive Assistant, until she retired in 2005.
In retirement, she enjoyed travelling with her husband all over New England, as well as locations such as Antigua, the Grand Canyon, Mackinac Island, and many others. Jackie volunteered with the Lyme Fire Company Auxiliary for many years, and after retirement for High Hopes Therapeutic Riding in Old Lyme as an office assistant, and at Shoreline Soup Kitchen and Pantries in Old Saybrook.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday July 21, 2025 at 9:30 am at Christ the King Church at 1 McCurdy Road in Old Lyme. There will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, or the Shoreline Soup Kitchen and Food Pantries.
