Joseph R. Sapia

Mr. Sapia was born on September 13, 1927 in Hartford the son of Frank and Concetta Sapia. He married Shirley Cahill in Hartford on May 2, 1958. He was employed for 16 years at Connecticut Valley Egg Co. then 17 years at Varco Printing in Deep River, and most recently was a volunteer at Phoebe Griffin Noyes Library in Old Lyme.

Joe loved his home on the shore, taking care of his yard, swimming and fishing. He was a hard worker all of his life. He loved Harley Davidson Motorcycles, vacations on Cape Cod and Maine with his wife, Italian food and telling stories of days gone by. Most of all he loved his beautiful family.

Mr. Sapia is survived by loving wife, Shirley, his three sons Joseph Sapia Jr. and his Kim of Old Lyme, Frank Sapia of Niantic and John Sapia and his wife Melissa of Waterford, grandchildren Brianna Sapia od Meriden and Brandon Sapia old Lyme, three step-grandchildren Tawnya Tremble of CA, Chelsea and Jake Coombe of Waterford, and Kristopher Wojtusik of Meriden. He is predeceased by his son Kevin Sapia, two brothers a Saland and Frances Sapia and a sister Eleanor Amato.

A Mass of Christian Burial Will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 10:30am in Christ the King Church in Old Lyme. Interment will follow in Duck River Cemetery, Old Lyme.
