Carmine Nicholas DeMarco was born in the Provence of Avellino Italy on October 22, 1924 to Gelsomina and Carlo DeMarco. One of 9 siblings, he earned a degree in medicine from the University of Rome in 1955. He moved to the U.S. shortly thereafter and earned his medical license in NY in 1959. He settled in Mt Vernon, NY where he practiced medicine for 35 years and was a beloved member of the community. It was in 1956 that he met the love of his life, Ena. Married in 1960, they had 3 children Carl, Gregory, and Adriene and raised them in nearby Bronxville, NY. After retirement, they held residences in Jupiter, FL and Westbrook, CT. It was there that he nurtured a beautiful garden for decades that served as the backdrop for numerous joyous family gatherings. He enjoyed tennis, golf, gardening, and travel including numerous trips back to Italy over the years. His greatest passion, however, was his family. He remained a shining presence in the life of his wife, 3 children, 8 grandchildren, and many friends right up until his passing. A constant source of strength and joy, his legacy lives on in the lives of those he touched so deeply over the years. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Ena; his son Carl and wife Lori DeMarco of Rye Brook NY, his son Gregory and wife Susan DeMarco of The Woodlands, TX, and his daughter Adriene and husband Donnie Dick of Needham, MA; his grandchildren Alexander, Craig, Nicholas, Sophia, Wesley, Brooke, Izabelle, and Gehrig; his sister Angelina Fruschante of Scarsdale, NY; and his nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Mark’s church in Westbrook, CT on Friday, July 17th at 11am followed by a private burial.
