Mrs. Roberts was born on September 18, 1926 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to John and Marina Chronowiat. After
serving her country in the Women’s Army Corps during the postwar
occupation of Europe, she attended the
University of Pittsburgh and later obtained a Masters Degree in Fine Arts from Richmond Professional Institute (now
VCU). With a passion for performing and visual arts she pursued a career in the fledgling television industry as a
show host on Richmond’s WRVA, Channel 12 . She married William Roberts of Hartford and settled with him in Old
Saybrook, Connecticut to raise a family. Mrs. Roberts served as a teacher’s aide for the Old Saybrook School
District and later became a dispatcher for the Old Saybrook Police Department. Always a willing volunteer for
children’s events, she became well known for her summer fortune telling performances. She was a member of the
First Congregational Church of Old Lyme.
Mrs. Roberts is survived by her son, David Roberts; her son and daughterinlaw,
Michael and Laurie Roberts of
Albany, California; and two grandchildren, Cleighton and Truman Roberts. She is preceded in death by her husband,
William.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, July 30, at 2pm at the First Congregational Church of Old Lyme
