I just learned of Grace's passing and although I'm sure Grace's family is well aware of what a lovely person she was, I feel compelled to say it anyway. I knew Grace through various groups around town, and I was always happy to see her. She was always warm and kind, and was a good listener who often had welcome and helpful words of advice.  And always smiling, it was always pleasant to be with her.  I know I can't turn myself into the beautiful soul that Grace was, but I'll try to be a bit more like Grace.  These words are really insufficient; I'm glad I was one of the people blessed to know this very special woman. My sympathy to all of her family and friends in your loss

S0 SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS. GRACE WAS A WONDERFUL FRIEND THROUGH ELEMENTARY AND HIGH SCHOOL. I WILL MISS HER SWEET SMILE AND THE MANY GREAT TIMES WE HAD. IT WAS GREAT SEEING HER AT REUNION. SHE WAS SUCH A  LOVING PERSON.

Growing up with my sister Grace leaves me with so many memories it is impossible to single out one significant event. Unable to accomplish such an arduous task, my ramblings as a younger sister must suffice: Seemingly endless Sunday afternoon family  rides, we 3 girls in the backseat raising havoc with one another...camping with the Nielsons, first at People's Forest in Barkhamsted, followed by years at Black Rock State Park where our parents taught us all the "old" songs...sharing a bedroom on Tremont Street...being hospitalized together  for tonsillectomies...Saturday afternoons at the Colonial Theater where they always questioned Grace about her age because she :looked older than 12"...walking to St. John's Church every Sunday morning... Miss Alice Hanson Music School recitals where Grace sang "Christopher Robin is saying his prayers...waking  up to our father slamming the big door on Tremont St yelling, "Everybody up ! It's a boy!" when our brother Richard was born...HPHS football half-times when Grace was a majorette...a weekend in her dorm at UConn when she was a sophomore, thrilling for a 15-year-old...attending her "Capping Ceremony", a major step in her nursing career...being the Maid of Honor in Grace and Charley's wedding...Grace helping me plan my wedding...visiting them at Sullivan's Island, SC...a month long visit to Hawaii with Michael and Robert to bask in the sun, swim, read, watch the boys catch geckos 
and simply enjoy each other's company...Grace becoming a proud mom when Daniel joined the family...Grace and Dee coming to Tolland weekly to provide me with some respite from my caregiving responsibilities...authoring Jim's (my husband) obituary...and, finally, Grace, tirelessly being the family spokesperson.

I will miss her.

This is a picture of Grace with her two younger sisters ...(me) Betty and Diane, taken  in Old Saybrook 1969.  
I loved listening to her sing with sisters Dee and Cindy.
In 1976 my sister Grace and her husband Charley introduced me to a young submarine sailor who is now my husband and their brother-in-law.
I am heartbroken to lose her but the memories  will remain.
