

John is predeceased by his wife of many years, Dorothy H. M. Elpi, and later Michele L'Heureux. He is survived by four children – David Elpi (Kathy), Deborah Temple (Steve), Jennifer Carlson (Joe Horvath), John P. Elpi and many caring friends and family.
John’s legacy continues through his 8 grandchildren, Travis Elpi, Michelle Elpi-Trainor, (Jeff), Stephen Temple, Michael Temple, Kara Temple, Christopher Temple, RG Carlson (Dana) and Jackie Wilder (Gary) along with his six great grandchildren.
After graduating from UConn with a double engineering degree, he went on to join the Air Force and became a 1st Lieutenant. After leaving the Air Force, he became an aeronautical engineer and traveled the world working on radar guidance systems.
Dad had a 100 ton Captains license and enjoyed many summers at Pilots Point Marina aboard “Our Joy.”
Family and friends are invited to a memorial service at the Swan Funeral Home in Old Saybrook, CT on Saturday, January 18th 2025 at 10:00AM. Burial will be private, immediately following the service.
