John H. Foster

FOSTER, John Hunton, 93, of Old Saybrook passed away October 15, 2012 at Middlesex Hospital. He was born April 13, 1919 in Markham, Va. He was the son of the late Thomas R. and Sue Strother Foster. John was predeceased by his loving wife of over 59 years, Polly Conroy Foster. He is survived by his children: Hunt Foster of Old Saybrook, James Foster and his wife Diane of Mystic. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Melodie Lynn, Eric, Susan, Kevin, and Christopher Foster as well as 3 great grandchildren Sam, Ben and Michael. Raised in Markham Virginia, he left the farm and became a machinist and then a plant engineer in the paper making industry. He was a private pilot and airplane owner in the "seat of your pants" era of flight. John was also a long time member on volunteer rescue squads in New Jersey and Old Saybrook.
