Marc Gerald Weinstein – no relation to Harvey – passed away on Friday, July 31st at age 69 in his home in Old Saybrook surrounded by family, while listening to The Grateful Dead and watching his favorite baseball team on TV. After battling pancreatic cancer for over a year, it was likely the Mets’ epic implosion that evening that did him in.
Marc was born to Seymour & Irene (Baum) Weinstein on July 2, 1951. He was a dedicated Mets fan who would skip school and take the train to Shea Stadium to see his beloved team play. Marc had a passion – but no talent – for music. He was a Deadhead who once braved a 10-mile hike and a sea of mud for a little concert known as Woodstock, and ever since has followed the Dead to shows across the US and Mexico. Marc and his wife loved to travel the world together and found a home away from home in Costa Rica. Marc graduated Syosset High School in 1969 and the University of Buffalo in 1972. Marc spent 35+ years in the automobile business but most enjoyed the last 15 working with his son at Budget Dry Waterproofing, where the two of them created a dynamic sales organization that now employs 22 people. Those who worked with Marc recall him being a strong mentor and coach.
He is survived by Liz, his doting wife of 44 years, and his son Jason and daughter-in-law, Shannon of Killingworth, as well as a grand-pup, Huckleberry. He is also survived by his sister Sara Beames and her husband Michael, of Kingston, New York. His niece, Diana was like a daughter to him and her kids, Lauren, Julia, Jonathan & James, were like his grandchildren. Marc left behind a close group of long-time friends from all parts of his life, that were like family and will miss him dearly.
In lieu of flowers, please support any effort to get Fred Wilpon to sell the New York Mets to ANYONE willing to spend money on their bullpen. Accepting that the Mets will always find a way to choke and no money can fix this team, please consider donating instead to PANCAN – the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.

Dear family and friends of Marc,
I did not know Marc, but, having read this obituary, I wish I had. He obviously led a well-lived life and had a network of family and friends who knew it. :) :) :)
May the stories and the personality of this man carry you through the tough days and make you laugh out loud when you need it.
May he rest in peace,
