

Muriel McManus Chambers 80, of Old Saybrook, passed away peacefully while surrounded by family and friends, on January 4, 2025 at Middlesex Hospital Hospice, after a long fight with Parkinson's disease.
Muriel was born in Waltham, MA. and was the daughter of the late Arthur and Phyliss McManus. She is survived by her husband of 55 years William, and daughter Michelle Chambers Cantey and husband John of Ivoryton, CT. In addition, she is survived by her sister, Barbara Fox and husband Mike of Greenland NH, and brother, William McManus and wife Kathy of Waltham, MA. She was predeceased by her sister Suzanne Segalini and her husband Roland of Belmont, MA. Muriel is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, whom she all adored.
Muriel was very unassuming and conversations with her were not about herself, but always about how things were going in your life and day. She was always available to lend a helping hand if needed, and was a great friend to many. Muriel had many interests, including being an avid Red-Sox fan. More often than not, she could be found enjoying her walks, or enjoying her time by the beach. Many times, she could be found sitting by the water with her beloved husband Bill enjoying her beachside views. Some of her most memorable memories included summer trips to Cape Cod with her family and relatives. She was a beloved family member and will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
Visiting hours will be held Tuesday January 14, 2025, 10 am - 2 pm at Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Road, Old Saybrook, CT. The family would like thank Middlesex Hospice and Hospital for their wonderful care.
