

Nancy Parks Loader passed away peacefully in Middletown, CT on Wednesday October 19th 2022 after a long fight in the Hospital. Nancy was born on July 9th 1951 at Grace New Haven Hospital (now Yale New Haven Hospital), the daughter of Solveig Brekke and Alfred Parks Loader. She lived in Hamden for most of her young life in a home built by her parents in the Spring Glen section.
As a young child, Nancy was a piano virtuoso, studying with renowned teacher Clara Shen. While growing up she battled unrecognized polio, receiving physical therapy five days a week at Gaylord Hospital. Nancy attended Albertus Magnus College and majored in English Literature and French. As a first job, she worked as a reporter for the New Haven Register but soon after she joined the family-owned advertising and public relations firm, Tully Loader Associates. Ms. Loader’s career in public relations also included stints at Gregory & Clybourne in Stamford and David Greene Associates in North Haven, from which she retired. During retirement, she continued a freelance public relations and grant writing business with a design partner, Jeanne Criscola.
An active volunteer, at various times in her life she volunteered for the United Way, Salvation Army, New Haven Symphony Orchestra Auxiliary, the Great Connecticut Traditional Jazz Festival and the Hot Steamed Jazz Festival. She served as president of the Advertising Club of New Haven County.
Ms. Loader is survived by her only son, Christopher Loader and her long-time companion, Thomas Quigley. She is also survived by her first cousins Kirsten DeAngelis, Karen Johnston and her husband Brownell, Richard Brekke and wife Carol, Susan Rose and her husband C. Christopher, Kitty McBride and Tina Lawson and her husband Mark. She is also survived by many second cousins in both Norway and the U.S., including Beate Dannevig and Yngre Brynjulfsen.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday November 5th at the First Church of Christ at 366 Main Street in Old Saybrook, CT at 10:30am, followed by a reception at the Saybrook Point Resort & Marina at 12pm. All are invited to attend.
